UUSD to meet Feb. 9
The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware will hold a service at 10 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, with “Connecting Every Day” as the topic. The Rev. Heather Rion Starr said, “We will hear more about the Independent Living for Young Adults program and how we can be a part of strengthening the net for young adults aging out of foster care. In tandem, we will be thinking about how we can all take a more active part in strengthening a caring net for all of us.” A post-service discussion will be led by Trenee Parker, director of the Division of Family Services in Delaware, and ILYA leadership committee founder and retired family court Judge Barbara Crowell from First UU Wilmington. Lewes mayor and council meet Feb. 10
Lewes Mayor and City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 10, at city hall.
The agenda includes discussion and possible action on bid recommendations for the Ocean View Boulevard street improvement project.

Rehoboth budget workshop Feb. 10
Rehoboth Beach commissioners will hold a budget workshop at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 10, in the city hall commissioners room, 229 Rehoboth Ave. This is the second workshop for the city’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget, which begins April 1. At the first meeting Jan. 17, city staff unveiled a proposed budget calling for about $43.9 million in revenues and $43.7 million in expenses. ‘Delaware Poisoned Candy Murders’ program set Feb. 12
The Rehoboth Beach Public Library will host “Delaware Poisoned Candy Murders,” presented by Margaret Opsata, Delaware Humanities speaker, at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 226 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
Opsata will unwrap a mystery that is anything but sweet.
One Delaware summer afternoon, a young wife in Dover received a gift box of candy in the mail. Two days after enjoying the treat with family and friends, she and her sister died of arsenic poisoning. Discovering who had sent the deadly delicacies, and why, exposed a tangle of lies, jealousy, adultery and betrayal in the 1898 trial that mesmerized the entire country.

Rehoboth to debut new website Feb. 12
After more than a year of behind-the-scenes work, Rehoboth Beach is set to unveil a new city website with a new domain name, rehobothbeachde.gov, Tuesday, Feb. 12.
City Manager Taylour Tedder announced the new website during a commissioner meeting Jan. 24.
City commissioners approved the creation of a new website during a meeting in October 2023.
Rep. Claire Snyder-Hall to address 14th RD Dems Feb. 12
The 14th Representative District Democratic Committee will meet Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Iron Hill Brewery on Route 1 north of Rehoboth Beach.
Newly elected Rep. Claire Snyder-Hall, D-Rehoboth Beach, will be the featured speaker. She will discuss her legislative priorities and ideas to address the many challenges facing Delaware residents.
The program will begin at 5 p.m. with a Dutch treat dinner, followed by Snyder-Hall’s remarks at 6 p.m. and committee business at 6:30 p.m.
The 14th RD Committee represents Democrats who live in and around Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach. All registered Democrats are welcome to participate in 14th RD meetings. Those planning to attend the Feb. 12 meeting should RSVP by Monday, Feb. 10, to c.fruchtman@comcast.net.

Business registration due Feb. 18 for local job fair
The Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce will host a job fair from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, in the Indian River High School gymnasium, 29772 Armory Road, Dagsboro. The rain date is Wednesday, Feb. 26. Registered businesses will have the opportunity to connect with an available workforce from within the school and the community at large. The deadline for businesses to register is Tuesday, Feb. 18. Registration fees directly support the college and career office at Indian River High School. Admission is free to the public. Rehoboth fire company fundraising gala set March 13
The Night of Honor and Bravery Tribute Ball to benefit the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 13, at Palm Beach Bar and Grill, 18585 Coastal Highway #23, Rehoboth Beach. Attendees are encouraged to don their finest black-tie attire and pay tribute to community heroes who have shown exceptional bravery and service. Dewey council OKs committee members
Dewey Beach Town Council voted Jan. 31 to approve the following Climate Change Committee members: Kelly Baxter, Dave Davis, Courtney Estes, Mary Japour, Liam McDermott, Sally Silver, April Wells and chair Debra Phillips-Goldenberg.
The council also appointed Sally Silver to the Marketing Committee.
