During a Feb. 21 meeting, Rehoboth Beach commissioners voted to set an appeal hearing for 9 a.m., Thursday, March 20, regarding the Belhaven Hotel case. The appeal is related to an approval made by the city’s planning commission in August that included a number of conditions the developer doesn’t agree with – review and approval by an independent structural and geotechnical engineer; review and approval by an independent flood plain expert; amendments to the site plan or drawings; two loading berths required instead of one; challenging an increase in the maximum floor-to-area ratio for the hotel floors, despite having an increase approved by the board of adjustment; removal of proposed safety railings on the roof near mechanical equipment; and the height of a proposed antenna.
