Man charged in pepper-spray incident in Milford
A Pennsylvania man faces charges after police say he pepper-sprayed another man after a March 4 fender-bender in Milford.
The incident happened about 1 p.m. when police said a Milford man, 50, was driving a Honda Element southbound on Bay Road near Jenkins Road. A man in a Chevrolet Silverado allegedly began tailgating the Honda, police said.
The Honda driver abruptly braked, police said, causing the Silverado to crash into the rear of the Honda.
Both drivers then pulled into the parking lot of I.G. Burton to assess the damage, police said, and when the the 50-year-old man exited his vehicle and approached the Chevrolet, Jason Boyd, 45, allegedly pepper sprayed him before troopers arrived. EMS responded and treated the 50-year-old man for minor injuries, police said.
When police contacted Boyd, they observed a canister of pepper spray inside his truck, police said, and discovered that his vehicle registration was expired. Boyd was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with felony second-degree assault with a disabling chemical spray, and expired registration. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $2,525 unsecured bond. Police said the 50-year-old driver of the Honda was issued a citation for reckless driving.
