Sen. Coons attends groundbreaking for new Dewey town hall

Sen. Chris Coons made his way down to Dewey Beach April 25 for the groundbreaking of the town’s new town hall and public safety building.
Joining Coons for the ceremonial first dig into the dirt were Town Manager Bill Zolper, Commissioner Elisabeth Gibbings, Mayor Bill Stevens, Commissioner Paul Bauer, Police Chief Constance Speake and Costello Construction’s Nic Costello.
The lot, located at 1505 Coastal Hwy., where the parking enforcement office used to be, is adjacent to the current town hall and police station.
The construction process, which is split into two phases, is estimated to take a total of 600 days, according to Costello Construction. When complete, the building will face Coastal Highway.
