Striders Christmas gifts under the tree

Striders Christmas gifts - To Dr. Lee Masser, the Striders organizer who is nursing an injury, I leave a full recovery with your orthotics and a new hammer. To Rehoboth Marathon organizer Marybeth Evans, I leave 2,500 finishers in 2015 and a pair of new pink running shoes. To the Beacon girls' track team, I leave their fifth straight undefeated season. To the Beacon boys' track team, I leave another Cape Classic title. To sprinter/jumper Alia Marshall of Beacon, I leave another record. To runner Linda Schwartz-Chi, I leave a sub-23-minute 5K, another cute commercial and a new Tundra. To Striders national champ 9-year-old Luke Burton, I leave another national title. To local runner Rich Tikiob, I leave another picture on the go. To runner Luanne Goldfarb, I leave an injury-free year and a 50K finish. To my son Ben Bamforth, I leave a double-double and a sub-4:40 sophomore mile. To my son Jake Bamforth, I leave an exciting post high school year. To my wife Monique, I leave a sub 1:50 half-marathon. To my assistant track coach Gilbert Maull, I leave Lasik surgery. To Striders webmaster Roxy Castillo, I leave a new website. To Billy of Logomotive, I leave another Striders T-shirt to print. To elite runner Enos Benbow, I leave another first-place finish. To Striders workers Derek Shockro and Dave Mushrush, I leave many many 5 a.m. arrivals. To the runners in the Cape Region, I leave a safe, happy and injury-free 2015 and a trip to one of the many Seashore Striders starting lines. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Weekend runs

The local weekend run group has posted its schedule for the first three months of 2015, and I wanted to share with my readers because I know how runners love to plan. I listed the date and the meeting location for each run. Special thanks to Rusty and Arleen LaPorte for all their support putting this group together.

12th Race into the New Year

The 12th annual Race into the New Year 5K and Youth Quarter Mile Mini Run will close up 2014 in Rehoboth Beach Wednesday, Dec. 31, at noon. The race will start and finish at the Rehoboth Beach Running Company, 300 Rehoboth Ave. at the Cultured Pearl. The Cultured Pearl will host the post-race party following the event. Race-day registration will open at 10:30 a.m. at the Pearl. Awards will be presented to the overall, masters and top three finishers in the following age groups: 9 & U, 10-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over. Race-day registration is set at $25 per runner with the first 250 runners receiving T-shirts.
