30 and counting!
The Kansas City Royals outlasted the New York Mets in a very close five game series. The Mets could have very easily won game one and game five. In both games, they blew a 9th inning lead. On the Royals' part, they were very impressive, especially batting against the Mets' outstanding (and young) starting rotation.
With this championship, the Royals ended a 30 year drought for the franchise, and for most of that time they were pitiful. Up until last year, Kansas City hadn't even made the playoffs for at least 25 years. I hope they can keep a good portion of this team together as they have been fun to watch for these last two years.
The first college football playoff rankings were released on Tuesday. Clemson University is ranked first in the initial poll. I think it would be cool if they could maintain their position for the rest of the season. South Carolina has had to go through so much bad news from the flooding from the recent nor'easter. That is unlikely though because the SEC Conference has two strong teams in the top four; LSU and Alabama. There's also last year's defending champion, "The" Ohio State University who sits in 3rd place.
Tony Romo has started to practice for the Dallas Cowboys. Let's hope he has to wait at least one more week to come back from his collarbone injury so the Eagles at least have a little better chance to pull a win! Even though the Eagles were on their bye week, they received lots of help from the other teams in our terrible division because both the Cowboys and the Giants lost.
In other news, Tiger Woods recently announced the fact that he needed a second back surgery, and now it's coming out that his recovery has been slowed and that he's on doctor ordered bed rest. I don't think the news for him can get much worse. I just hope he can come back from this injury at some point to continue playing. We will see what the future holds.
