The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce’s 32nd Annual Sea Witch Festival kicked off with an afternoon of fun Friday, Oct. 28. There were the Tyke Bike on the Boardwalk, shows at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center and the Schellville Express in Grove Park.
If you’re seeing this Friday afternoon, Oct. 28, it’s not too late for fall fun at the Sussex County Family YMCA, 20080 Church St., Rehoboth, beginning at 6 p.m., and trick or treating in downtown Dewey Beach beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Starting Saturday morning, there’s a lot to do in Rehoboth Beach over the next two days, highlighted by the costume parade down Rehoboth Avenue at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 29. For those attending the parade, the chamber recommends getting into town by 9 a.m. because of road closures.
Other Saturday events include pony rides on the beach from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., an outdoor kids zone at First Street Station from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., afternoon magic shows at the convention center, old-fashioned kids games at 2 p.m. on the beach in front of Baltimore Avenue, and more.
Sunday events include opportunities to take selfies with Hilda the Sea Witch Balloon at the convention center from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and the best costumed dog parade on the Boardwalk starting at 1 p.m.
The weather forecast calls for possible showers on Halloween Monday, Oct. 31, but the weekend looks like it’s going to be fine for the festival. According to the National Weather Service, Saturday is expected to be mostly sunny with a high of 60 and northeast winds around 15 mph. Sunday looks about the same, but with more clouds.
