BASSE welcomes Brian Moore as school launch leader
The Bryan Allen Stevenson School of Excellence recently announced the appointment of Brian N. Moore as its new school launch leader.
With more than 25 years of experience working in public education, Moore’s background includes service with the Delaware Department of Education as well as leadership in school operations and student support. His career has included various efforts to improve student environments. He is a strong advocate for trauma-informed practices and restorative discipline to drive student success both in and out of the classroom.
As BASSE shifts into its next phase of growth, Moore will manage the planning, execution and coordination of all school activities, working closely with the leadership team, the faculty and the local community to create a culture of excellence, equity and inclusion.
“We are so pleased to announce the new addition to our BASSE family,” said Teresa Berry, Bryan Allen Stevenson School of Excellence board chair. “His vision aligns perfectly with our mission. We are confident Mr. Moore will elevate our goals and successfully navigate new horizons.”
Moore served on the Charter School Accountability Committee during his time at the Department of Education and had the opportunity to review charters in every phase from concept to renewal. His vocation of serving at-risk youth for 20 years as a board member for the Police Athletic League of Delaware, serving as facilities chair, treasurer, and currently board chair and president, all make him an exciting new addition to the BASSE community.
“I am thrilled to be joining the BASSE family,” said Moore. “Its sole focus is on creating the next generation of community leaders and advocates, such a powerful mission during these challenging times. Today, perhaps more than any other time in recent history, we need more young leaders, and BASSE is where they will get their start. What an incredible honor to be asked to not only be a part of but to be a leader in achieving that vision, one which I bought into as soon as it crossed my desk as just a concept years ago.”
Moore is a motivated leader who believes in following the vision and the mission, focusing on the needs of the students above all things. He has what he calls a decision-making tool hanging above his desk – a picture of students that says, “Is this the right thing to do for a child?”
Moore started part time in his new position Feb. 13, and began full-time work Feb. 24. His leadership will play a critical role in the success of year one and BASSE’s mission of expanding into high school within two years, ensuring its principles of equity, inclusion and innovative academic excellence are all part of the school environment.
