Beek Grosh, all-around great guy

March 2, 2025

Beek Grosh passed over to the other side Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025.

Born in Chattanooga, Tenn., he, with his father, Dave; mother, Billie; and brother, David, moved to Rehoboth Beach in the summer of 1983. As he and David were fond of saying about this change in geography, “We weren’t born here, but we got here as quick as we could.”

The Grosh boys were given the best welcome new arrivals to the area could hope to receive: attendance at Rehoboth Jr. High. Beek fell seamlessly into Rehoboth and beach life. He graduated from Cape Henlopen, where he was a standout in football and baseball. He went on to Wesley College, where he graduated and had continued success on the baseball diamond. Throughout all of this, he never lost the pride of being a Seahawk. For some things in life, you just had to be there to understand.

Beek had a storied career on Rehoboth Beach Patrol. At 15, he was the second-youngest rookie in the history of the patrol. He valued those years with the patrol and the friendships he made all his life. He would laugh that Beek laugh anytime he told a story about those days.

For Beek, the sun set and rose with his daughter, Moriah.

In the good times and the bad, his love for her never wavered.

There will be an informal get-together at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 8, at Irish Eyes in Lewes. In the inimitable Grosh style, it’ll be nuthin’ fancy. All are invited and encouraged to act accordingly.

We’re all going to miss you, Beek.
