Betty Marie Harvey, devoted to family

Betty Marie Harvey, 82, of Millsboro, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, in Lewes. She was born Jan. 11, 1943, in Washington, D.C., to Charles William Schaeffer and Dorothy Beatrice Clothier.

Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Carl H. Harvey Jr.; her daughter, Diana M. Harvey; and most of her brothers and sisters.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Leisa A. Armstrong and her husband Ray A. Armstrong of Millsboro; grandson, Jay Keys and his wife Virginia Merson Keys of Sykesville, Md.; and her great-grandchildren, Mason Vollmerhausen Keys, Lilliane Merson and Walker Merson Keys, all of Sykesville. She is also survived by her sisters, Judy Eye and her husband David of Spotsylvania, Va., and Connie Williams of Haymarket, Va.

Betty passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of love, strength, and cherished memories. A determined and independent woman, she lived life on her own terms, always moving forward with purpose and passion.

She was a devoted wife to Carl and a loving mother who always put her family first. Whether planning the next adventure or simply enjoying time together, she found joy in every moment shared with those she loved. Betty made every holiday special, ensuring that the family always came together to celebrate. From festive decorations to thoughtful traditions, she poured her heart into making those moments unforgettable. Holidays were not just dates on the calendar; they were cherished gatherings filled with love, laughter, and togetherness.

Her home was never complete without the companionship of animals, as she had a deep and unwavering love for them. She was also a talented crafter, spending many years crocheting, knitting, and doing needlepoint—creating beautiful, handmade pieces that will be treasured by her loved ones.

Never one to sit still, Betty thrived on being on the go, embracing new experiences and making the most of every day. Whether spending time with family, doting on her pets, or working on her latest craft, she embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. Her warmth, generosity, and dedication to those she held dear will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Thursday April 3, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, April 4, at Ivy Hill Cemetery, 8584 John Mosby Hwy., Upperville, Va.
