Brett asks for voters’ support in RD41

November 1, 2024

I want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to the many supporters of my campaign for Delaware state representative of the 41st District covering Millsboro, Dagsboro, Frankford, Selbyville and Gumboro. Your commitment to building a brighter future for our community has been truly inspiring. Throughout this journey, I have knocked on over 11,000 doors. I deeply appreciate the thousands of voters who have shared their concerns and hopes with me.

These conversations have made one thing clear: Residents of the 41st District are ready for change. They want a voice that represents everyone’s interests, not just those of a small and influential minority.

They expect their representative to move our state forward, not backward, with a focus on responsible growth, affordable childcare and housing, better educational outcomes, action on climate change, protection of reproductive rights and support for our LGBTQ community. I am committed to representing the interests of the majority.

Responsible growth requires finding a balance between private property rights and the need for safe roads, access to medical care and schools that are not overburdened. It’s crucial that all stakeholders have an equal voice in shaping our community.

Affordable childcare is essential for young parents striving to succeed in the workplace or continue their education. Investing in affordable childcare is an investment in strong families and, in turn, stronger communities.

We must equip our children with a quality education. Supporting teachers, paraprofessionals and administrators is key to creating a strong educational foundation. This support, along with fair compensation, helps attract and retain talented educators who can truly shape students' growth. And when educators are well-supported, it's fair to expect accountability for improved outcomes, ensuring that students get the best learning experience possible. Balancing support with accountability can foster an environment where both educators and students thrive.

To meet our state’s goals for emissions reductions and renewable energy, we need to take action now. I will bring a well-informed perspective on renewable energy issues to the table, ready for serious-minded discussions about our path forward. Ignoring the urgent need to address climate change is irresponsible to future generations.

My opponent has represented our district for the past decade. Voters are seeking a representative who is preparing our district and Delaware for the challenges of the future. They want someone who aligns with their values and vision for the future, ensuring that the district and Delaware can thrive in a changing world.

I have earned the trust of business owners, community groups and my fellow veterans. I am proud to be endorsed by the Sierra Club, Delaware State Education Association, Delaware Stonewall and the Delaware Democratic Veterans Caucus. I am committed to earning and maintaining your trust as I represent your interests.

Please make a plan to vote. Information on voting, including early voting, can be found at www.elections.delaware.gov. For more about me, my background and my vision for Delaware’s future, go to www.brettfordelaware.com.
