Cape High thespians welcomed members of the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival Oct. 27, when they viewed the touring production of “Romeo and Juliet” and participated in workshops led by the stars of the play.
Following the morning performance, actors Timothy Oh and Mackenzie Moyer fielded questions from students and then facilitated a series of workshops in the afternoon.
The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival is a professional theater company at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa., and the official Shakespeare festival of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. For details, go to pashakespeare.org.
The day was made possible through a grant provided by the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation, which funds teacher grants for unbudgeted classroom projects, support for homeless and limited-income students, STEM initiatives, performing arts education and training, and programs to promote diversity and inclusion.
CHEF board member Connie Kaden said theater teacher Sadie Andros applied for the grant enabling the program, which aligns with both national arts standards for theater and common core standards for English language arts.
