Cape Pop Warner teams run to clean sweep of opponents in gridiron matchups

The Cape Pop Warner Vikings teams had a successful day of games Oct 12 at Cape Henlopen’s Legends Stadium.

The bright and sunny day started with the 9U team defeating the Dover Raiders 12-7. Adam Deyak scored two touchdowns in the first half on a long run and on a pass from quarterback Henry Hill.

The 11 a.m. game featured the Cape 11U team scoring a 20-6 win over the Berlin Seahawks. U11 running backs Ben Pease and Malec Ksebe each scored a rushing touchdown. Reef Hay pulled in a Grant Hershelman pass for a touchdown.

Up next at 1 p.m. was the 10U squad, which saddled up a 28-7 victory over the Chincoteague Colts. Crew Griffin, Bryce Costello, Nolan Jones and Porter Marvin all scored for the Vikings. Hudson Hartstein made two extra points.

The 8U Cape Vikings defeated the Chincoteague Colts 7-6 in late-afternoon action. Jahni Glover scored the lone touchdown for the Vikings’ 8U squad.

The day on the gridiron finished up with a 6U scrimmage between the Cape Vikings and the Chincoteague Colts. This level is for learning the basic fundamentals of football and having fun; no score is kept.
