Cape senior wins Why I Love Sussex essay contest
I Am Sussex, a media outlet that celebrates the people and life in southern Delaware, announced the winner of its Why I Love Sussex essay contest is Ava Crotty, a senior at Cape Henlopen High School.
The contest invited local high school students to submit essays about why they love living in Sussex County.
Crotty’s essay was chosen as the winner from many entries. In it, Crotty shared her love for Sussex County's natural beauty, highlighting her favorite places, such as Cape Henlopen State Park and the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk. She also praised the region's strong sense of community.
José Quiñones, Linda Vista Real Estate Services broker and I Am Sussex CEO, presented the $500 prize to Crotty while praising the quality of the entries and the passion that writers showed for the region.
"We received some great entries for this contest, and it was truly inspiring to see how much our young people love living in Sussex County," Quiñones said. "Ava's essay stood out for its heartfelt appreciation of everything that makes our region so special. We're proud to have her as our winner."
