Car takes down power lines near Harbeson

A single-car crash Nov. 10 near Harbeson knocked power for the area.

A Toyota Camry was traveling at 2:33 a.m. southbound on Harbeson Road south of Shingle Point Road when for reasons still under investigation, police said, the Camry left the southbound lane of travel and entered a ditch. The car then stuck a mailbox and knocked over the utility poles, pulling down the utility lines, before overturning, police said.

The driver is unknown and fled the scene before police arrived. Troopers are working to identify and locate the driver along with any occupants that may have been in the car.

Harbeson Road was closed while crews repaired the power lines. Overnight crews from the Milton Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Delaware State Police Troop 7 at 302-644-5020.
