Celebrating excellence with random acts of kindness

March 8, 2022

It’s no secret that Beebe team members demonstrated incredible steadfastness and tireless dedication through the multiple phases of the COVID-19 pandemic. Supporting our community required the knowledge, skill and determination of all Beebe team members at every level and every location within the healthcare system.

In order to acknowledge their incredible efforts, Beebe Medical Foundation launched a new idea in November to the attendees of the annual Beebe Ball – the new Make Their Day fund.

Beebe Medical Foundation President Tom Protack described the fund to the crowd simply, “Donations to this fund will provide for random acts of kindness for Beebe team members at all levels and locations throughout the Beebe Healthcare health system.”

The response was overwhelming. Hands were raised all over the venue to donate to the fund, and the momentum did not stop there. Since the Make Their Day fund launch, donors continue to give to celebrate the excellent care Beebe team members have given and continue to give to the community. Comments attached to donations include, “Thanks to all who came in contact with my husband,” and “To the entire staff, God bless you for all that you do.”

Recently, my Beebe Medical Foundation colleagues and I delivered 30 baskets of treats and fruit to team areas at the Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus. Since this new Make Their Day fund has been established, more than 100 Beebe employees at multiple locations have benefitted from random acts of kindness, and the outreach continues!

To me, efforts like Make Their Day really matter. It’s another way the community celebrates the excellent care Team Beebe provides to Sussex County. I am proud to be a Beebe team member. I am proud to be a Beebe donor, and I am proud to be part of the Beebe Medical Foundation team. I am also proud to be a member of a community that shows its appreciation for its local, not-for-profit healthcare system – and the excellent care it provides – by supporting its team members with random acts of kindness.

As a community-based, not-for-profit healthcare system, Beebe Healthcare depends on the generous support of the community it serves.
