Coast Rehoboth Beach is now open on Rehoboth Avenue.
The building that was formerly the four-decade home of the Sandcastle Motel underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation over the course of nearly two years.
New Castle County developer Harvey Hanna purchased the property in late 2021 for about $13 million and began a top-to-bottom $5 million renovation soon after.
The property has an address of 123 Second St., and while the Sandcastle Motel’s main entrance was on Second Street, Coast’s entrance faces Rehoboth Avenue.
Guest rooms were made larger by enclosing small balconies, and a rooftop space overlooking Rehoboth Avenue was added. According to the hotel’s website, there is also a fitness center, indoor pool and business center.
As part of the renovation, a full-service restaurant was included. An A-frame sign board on Rehoboth Avenue says Sirocco, the hotel’s Southern Mediterranean-style restaurant, is set to open Wednesday, July 26.
The new hotel is part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection, which is described on the company’s website as “hotels that are woven into the local community.”
