Commissioner Pat Coluzzi not running for re-election in Rehoboth

Rehoboth Beach Commissioner Pat Coluzzi has announced she is not running for re-election this year.
In an email June 2, Coluzzi said she wasn’t running for re-election because she has other commitments and wishes to travel more, which would limit the amount of time she could spend fulfilling the requirements to serve as a full-time commissioner.
Elected in 2018, Coluzzi’s current three-year-term is her second as city commissioner. She served on the commission from 2007 to 2013, and was a planning commissioner in 2006. Coluzzi has served as vice president of the board of commissioners for the past year.
As of press deadline June 3, only one person has filed for this year’s election – incumbent Commissioner Richard Byrne, who filed May 14.
The filing deadline for Rehoboth’s election is 4:30 p.m., Monday, June 7. Interested candidates must turn in a petition signed by at least 10 qualified voters, but not more than 25, to the city manager by that day.

Rehoboth Beach’s 2021 municipal election is scheduled to take place Saturday, Aug. 14. Absentee ballots will be available beginning Wednesday, June 30. Ballots will be sent to everyone who has an absentee ballot request form on file. The deadline for the city to mail ballots is Tuesday, Aug. 10. Ballots must be received by mail or in person before the polls close on the day of the election.
To be eligible to vote, a person must register on or before Thursday, July 15. Any qualified elector may request an absentee ballot to vote by filing a request for an absentee ballot form no later than noon, Friday, Aug. 13.
