Daniel Dallas Jewell, kind, generous man

November 12, 2024

Daniel Dallas Jewell, 76, of Seaford, passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, at Lofland Park Center.  A Seaford native, he was born Aug. 14, 1948, son of the late Dallas and Margaret (Passwaters) Jewell.

Daniel attended Seaford High School, graduating with the Class of 1966. He attended Delaware Technical and Community College for a year before joining the U.S. Army and then the Railroad, where he worked for 10 years. He then worked in construction and painting for over 35 years. Daniel was a hard worker but more than anything a kind and generous man who dedicated his time to his family, and serving others. It was his love for the community that led him to volunteer for the teen challenge and do other various mission work. He was also a member of Nanticoke Sportsman Club, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was an avid old car tinkerer. On Sundays, you could find him watching his Redskins but only after church at Bethel Worship Center in Seaford, where he was also a minister. If you knew Daniel, you were a better person for it. He was one of the nicest men you'd ever meet.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his sister, Diann Miller. He is survived by his three sons, James Anthony "Tony" Jewell (Melissa), Justin Andrew Jewell (Alex) and Jason Alexander Jewell; his grandchildren, Trey (Kaitlyn), Michael, Jalynn and Jaxon; one great-grandson, Tucker; his brother-in-law, Gene Miller; his extended family, Barbara Jewell, Tanya Pate and Aaron Pate; and his best friend, William Smack.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 22, at Watson-Yates Funeral Home, 609 E. King St., Seaford, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Daniel's memory to Teen Challenge, teenchallengesuperthrift.cc/preferred-donations-and-pickup.
