Delaware breast cancer update slated May 14

April 15, 2025

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition will host the 27th Annual Breast Cancer Update from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, May 14, via Zoom. The event is free of charge for all attendees.

The annual update provides a comprehensive overview of breast cancer research, treatment and patient experiences. It is one of the few conferences designed for a broad audience, attracting medical professionals, social workers, breast cancer survivors, medical students and community members.

This year’s program theme is: Breast Cancer: The State We’re In. Prominent physicians from throughout Delaware will present on a variety of topics, including triple-negative breast cancer, population health research, genetic testing, and nutrition and survivorship.

DBCC Survivorship Specialist Connie Holdridge said, “Being a breast cancer survivor, learning as much as possible about this disease is a priority to me. The breast cancer update always gives me the most important new or current information on breast cancer. With the large number of triple-negative breast cancer cases in Delaware, I think the sessions on TNBC and genetics are very relevant to us all currently. As a moderator of the nutrition segment, I’m excited to share how we can protect ourselves by practicing healthy eating. Chef Dee is an exciting and thoughtful chef, dietitian and breast cancer survivor.”

"For more than 26 years, with the support of our community, we have been able to offer this important educational event free of charge," said Katelyn Bender, DBCC communications director. "We anticipate hundreds of registrants, including survivors, caregivers, medical care providers, students and members of the public. Your continued support is critical to ensuring this important public health service remains available to the breast cancer community."
