For nearly 30 summers, runners Cindy Dominik and Rich Oldrieve have been competing in Seashore Striders events. They were rewarded with induction into the Dam Mill Hall of Fame July 27 in Millsboro.
Oldrieve, all the way from North Olmsted, Ohio, has many age-group wins under his belt and even an overall win back in 1994 when he ran 16:16. Fast forward 30 years, and Oldrieve won the 65-69 age group in 23:17. Dominik comes to the beach now from Vero Beach, Fla., and has been a competitive age grouper for almost 30 years with the Striders and is currently third in the championship series in the 60-64 age group heading into the final week of the series.
Dominik is steady and consistent, and she has always been supportive of all the age-group runners she toes the line with each weekend. Both Oldrieve and Dominik were recognized at the hall of fame ceremony after the final finisher crossed the line Saturday. Congratulations to these two outstanding age-group runners, not only for their talents, but also for their longevity and commitment to the Seashore Striders, and to the sport of running and racing.
