Eagles game was supposed to be an "easy" win
On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles suffered a pathetic loss to the Miami Dolphins 20-19. This kind of a loss is hard to recover from because in the first quarter of this game the Eagles looked great and actually got off to a flying start. They were winning 16 to 3 by the beginning of the second quarter.
And then everything started to fall apart!
It began with a missed "easy" field goal and a blocked punt. It turned out to be quite a terrible day for the special teams. What started as a good effort to show up another mediocre team got turned around and thrown right back at the Eagles.
A combination of poor coaching and an interception by our backup quarterback in the red zone cost the Eagles that "easy" win everyone thought they could pull off. Mark Sanchez will probably play this week against Tampa Bay because Sam Bradford is hurt. He has a lot to prove.
In basketball, the 76ers still have not won a game and who knows when they will! This is very unfortunate because it will probably prove to be the end for coach Brett Brown. Maybe he will quit before he is fired.
On the other end of the spectrum, the defending championship team, the Golden State Warriors, are 12 and 0 and could challenge the Chicago Bulls for the best record ever.
The NBA this year has a few very good teams at the top but they are mostly West Coast. It makes it hard for us basketball fans living on the East Coast because the games are on so late.
Being a Cape grad, I will end my article this week with a good luck wish to all the Cape Fall sports teams in their playoff games. Go Cape!
