Early learning Read Aloud program to start Sept. 11
The Lewes Public Library and Read Aloud Delaware invite caregivers of children ages 0-3 for a free, nine-week LENA Start workshop series.
Focusing on conversation, communication and reading to enhance children’s brain development, the classes will take place weekly from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Mondays, starting Sept. 11, at the Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.
Interactive talk between caregivers and their children – and specifically back-and-forth conversation – has been proven to be a key factor in early brain development. The LENA Start program aims to help parents and caregivers strengthen the home language environment during this critical period of development. Workshop sessions will focus on strategies for incorporating language and conversation during daily activities, and explore reading, songs, stories and other opportunities to strengthen language progress. Participants will also utilize LENA Start’s patented talk pedometer technology to record and evaluate language interactions at home.
Registration is required. To sign up, go to lewes.lib.de.us or cal 302-645-2733. For questions about the LENA Start program, contact Stacy Penaranda at Read Aloud Delaware, 302-856-2527.
