Ella May Bada, devoted to family
Ella May Bada passed away peacefully at her home in Lewes Monday, Feb. 17, 2025. She was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Atanacio Bada; daughter, Paula Smith; grandson, Demian Smith; son, Arthur Bada and wife Avril; grandson, Aaron Bada; great-grandsons, Lukas and Lincoln Bada; son, Randolph Bada; son, Frederick Bada and wife Carol; grandson, Timothy Bada; and granddaughter, Aleksandra Madison Bada.
Ella was a devoted Navy wife, serving at many duty stations throughout the U.S. and Newfoundland. She met her husband, Atanacio, in St. John's, Newfoundland, while he was stationed at the Navy base, where they married. As a proud Navy wife and mother, Ella lovingly cared for their four children while Atanacio served our country at various overseas and U.S. duty stations.
The couple moved to Lewes in 1976 after Atanacio’s last posting at the naval facility in Lewes at Cape Henlopen State Park. Lewes had been their home for 49 years. Ella worked in the Lewes Elementary cafeteria and spent many summers working at the Fort Miles Army Exchange. She was also an active member of St. Jude the Apostle Church, where she enjoyed attending daily Mass in her younger years.
Ella’s grandchildren were her pride and joy. She devoted much of her time to them and loved having them around as much as possible. Family time and holidays were some of her favorite moments. Ella was also immensely proud and delighted to be a great-grandmother.
Ella will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family.
Services will be private.
