Fins Hospitality named Sussex Consortium Community Champion

The Sussex Consortium named Fins Hospitality Group its Community Champion for February.

Students at the Sussex Consortium work twice a week at Fins and Big Oyster Brewery, helping the restaurant’s staff get ready for the day by rolling silverware, setting and cleaning tables, filling sugar caddies, watering plants, vacuuming and completing other necessary tasks. They may also try their hand at new skills, such as preparing and cutting fruit for the bar area and assisting with juice preparation.

The skills learned help to prepare students for future jobs and home responsibilities, the Sussex Consortium said in a release.

“Despite being newer to these locations compared to some of our other community partners, our students have been warmly welcomed and embraced as part of the team,” the release continues. “The staff treat them like family, ensuring special moments – such as birthdays and holiday celebrations – are acknowledged and celebrated. We sincerely appreciate the managers and staff at Fins and Big Oyster for their kindness, support and for creating a safe, welcoming environment where our students can learn, grow and thrive.”
