First State Manufactured Housing awards scholarships
The First State Manufactured Housing Association announced two recipients of the Manufactured Housing Scholarship Award for 2023-2024. Each scholarship is in the amount of $2,500, and totals $5,000.
Congratulations go to Shardae Lashua and Reagan Webster, both of Sea Air Village in Rehoboth Beach.
Lashua is completing her second year at Rutgers University majoring in biochemistry. After obtaining her combined bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biochemistry she plans to enroll in the medical doctorate degree program. Lashua volunteers with the American Red Cross, tutoring and Boys & Girls Club of Camden County, N.J. She is captain of the RUC Raptorettes Dance Team, president of the African Student Association, captain of the Afrodynamic Dance Team and a member of the Pre-Med Student Association. Lashua is completing an internship with Girls, Inc mentoring young girls interested in entering into the STEM field.
A 2023 graduate of Penn Manor High School in Millersvlle, Pa., Webster will be attending Lebanon Valley College in the fall majoring in physical therapy. She will be part of its six-year accelerated PT program to earn her doctorate. Webster was inducted into the National Honor Society and was a student ambassador at Penn Manor.
Since 1999, the First State Manufactured Housing Association has provided $84,000 in scholarship grants to 61 students. This scholarship program is available to high school seniors or graduates who reside in manufactured or modular housing within the State of Delaware for at least one year prior to application.
