Your name could permanently adorn a beach chair on a wall mural at the new Dewey Beach Town Hall if town commissioners act on a recommendation from the marketing committee.
Commissioner Paul Bauer, liaison to the committee, told members at a June 6 meeting that fellow Commissioner Elisabeth Gibbings suggested a beach-themed wall mural as a way to recognize donors who support a town hall fundraising campaign.
The mural could be painted by a local artist, Bauer said, and depending on the funding amounts given, the donor’s name could appear on a beach chair, umbrella, airplane banner or any area of the artwork.
“Whatever we raise as money, we didn’t have before,” Bauer said.
After voting to recommend the idea, the committee voted to create ascending donation categories at $250, $500, $1,000 and “other” threshold levels.
The committee also discussed the possibility of hosting a town-sponsored public event such as a movie on the bay this fall, and voted to recommend commissioners consider ideas for an event on the bay beach.
