Susan and Neil Garefino, of Lewes, along with their daughters and grandchildren, spent three weeks in Europe over the summer. In this great moment captured, grandson Beckett frantically tries to push over the Leaning Tower of Pisa; however, Susan and granddaughter Gianna, with the help of the Cape Gazette, couldn’t let that happen. The freestanding bell tower is known for its nearly four-degree lean. The tower began to lean during construction in the 12th century, due to soft ground which could not properly support the structure's weight. After a little remedial work between 1993 and 2001, the tower still stands tall!
