Glenn W. Barrentine Sr., retired Marine, fireman

Glenn W. Barrentine Sr., 93, of Millsboro, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024.   

Glenn was born in Broken Arrow, Okla., to the late Wesley and Mabel Barrentine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria, in 2019; and two brothers, Bob and James Barrentine.

Glenn honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring after 21 years. Then, he worked for the State of Delaware in the mail room for approximately 15 years. He was a lifetime member of Indian River Volunteer Fire Co. Glenn enjoyed working in his yard, hunting, and making crafts and Indian jewelry. He also enjoyed going out to breakfast with his wife and family. He loved to cook, which came from cooking while in the Marines.

He is survived by one son, Glenn W. Barrentine Jr. and his wife Barbara of Millsboro and Magnolia. Glenn was blessed with four grandchildren: Mark Barrentine, Brandy Lachey (Dave), Rebecca Barrentine and Christopher Barrentine; as well as six great-grandchildren, Gavin, Roland, Bella, Bentley, Brenan and Aurora. Glenn will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, at Watson Funeral Home & Crematorium, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. A graveside committal will immediately follow at Indian Mission Cemetery, Harbeson.
