Thoughts From the Sidelines

Here's hoping the Eagles can continue to make it happen!

December 5, 2014

The Philadelphia Eagles' performance on Thanksgiving was impressive! They completely surprised me with how they dominated the Dallas Cowboys, and on the road too! Dallas definitely helped them out by seemingly sleepwalking through most of the game. The nerves I had going into the game were of no need even though this was supposed to be a very competitive contest. The turning point came at the end of the first half when Dallas lost any momentum they had. Their wide receiver, Cole Beasley, fumbled the ball back to the Eagles with less than two minutes left on the clock. In the time remaining the Eagles promptly capitalized with a another field goal to add to their already substantial lead. The Eagle's offense was very impressive, and Mark Sanchez played a very efficient (almost perfect) game. Lesean McCoy is finally getting his mojo back from last year. This coming week will be a big barometer of how good the Eagles actually are as they face the defending champion Seattle Seahawks at home. This should be a great game.

In baseball news Yasmany Tomas decided to sign with the Arizona Diamondbacks instead of the Philadelphia Phillies. This is very unfortunate news for the Phillies, and they better make some changes at the winter meetings come next week or it will be another same old season like last year. They can't afford to stay on that all too familiar path. One of the more ridiculous contracts already for 2015 baseball season is the re-signing of Florida Marlins' outfielder John Carlos Stanton. No one is worth that kind of money!

There is only one more week before the college football playoff field is set. Alabama is first and Oregon is ranked second. TCU and Florida State round off the field as of now. If they all win their conference championship games, these will be the playoff teams. If any of this combination has a loss and Ohio State wins its game against Wisconsin this weekend, Ohio State will be a part of that field. The final standings will be released on ESPN on Sunday right before the NFL games start.

And oh those terrible 76ers! But they did FINALLY win a game just before they were to break a new record in losses! They are now 1 and 17 for the season. The only saving grace for the team is the fact that there are 64 games to go. With this win, they will not have to suffer the same fate as the 2008 Detroit Lions, who went winless in that season. Hopefully they will at least win a few more.
