Indian River School District officials, school staff and students gathered to celebrate the new Howard T. Ennis School for students with moderate to severe disabilities with a ribbon cutting Oct. 3. The new school, located at 26021 Patriots Way, Georgetown, opened Jan. 3.
The Howard T. Ennis School serves Sussex County children with significant disabilities ages 2 to 22. Services are provided to students who demonstrate a need for highly specialized educational support. Special education services are provided by a trained and experienced team of teachers, therapists, nurses and paraprofessionals under the leadership of a coordinating team of administrators.
Prior to the opening of the new school, Howard T. Ennis had been housed in its previous facility in Georgetown since 1972.
