It might be over for Tiger
I know it is December, but there was potentially huge news in the golf world on Tuesday. Tiger Woods held an alarming press conference at his Charity sponsored golf tournament. He said that his back condition has not gotten much better after his most recent surgery, and he doesn't know when he's going to come back to play competitive golf.
He could be the Sandy Koufax of golf, in that he might have to retire early because of the injury. I hope this is not the case and hope he can come back at some point. He was a huge reason I started watching the sport of golf in the first place.
I will not be talking very much about the Eagles game on Thanksgiving against Detroit because it was almost as bad as the performance against Tampa Bay the week before. The final score in the game against Detroit was 45 to 14.
Unfortunately, the Eagles have to play the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots this week. The schedule can't get much more difficult for a struggling team like the Eagles.
The 'hot stove" of signings in baseball has begun. The Boston Red Sox highly overpaid for left-handed pitcher David Price formerly of Tampa Bay/ Detroit and Toronto. He is already 30 years old and they signed him for seven years. This is a huge risk given how many injuries there are every year to aging pitchers. A great example is the Phillies Cliff Lee.
The two big games this weekend in college football are Clemson and North Carolina in the ACC Championship; and the upstart Iowa Hawkeyes against Michigan State for the Big 10 Championship. If the Tar Heels upset Clemson, they will be a major spoiler, but won't likely make the College Football Final Four. If Clemson wins, they are in as the likely number 1 seed.
Up north, in my view, the winner of the Big Ten Championship game has a lock on one of the final four spots. The loser goes "home" to a lesser bowl game. Go Hawkeyes!!
