The Final Four is set. North Carolina and Gonzaga University are holding down the fort for the teams that were favored at the start of the NCAA tournament. They were both number one seeds in their respective regions. The Oregon Ducks can't be considered a Cinderella team because they were a number three seed. Their team is most well-known for their amazing variety of uniforms from Nike.
The best trivia fact about the Ducks is that the last time they won the basketball national championship was in the first tournament in 1939. In South Carolina's case they are the true definition of a Cinderella team. Until the very end of the season, they weren't even sure they were going to make the tournament. The last time the Gamecocks even won a game in this tournament was way back in 1973.
The semifinal games will be shown Saturday on TBS. By the way, I have North Carolina to win in one of my "sheets of integrity" (taken from Mike and Mike), and in that one, I have already won it all.
The Masters Tournament is next week. I think the favorite to win the tournament should be Dustin Johnson. He is playing out of his mind right now, and can dominate the course because of how far he can crush the ball. Let's hope its sunny all four days next week because Augusta National in the spring is a great course to see on TV. It is such a beautiful place.
The US men's soccer team managed to save their chances to make next year's World Cup in Russia for the time being, after the two qualifying games this week. The US squad beat Honduras 6-0 on home soil. It was surprising to me how poorly Honduras played in this game, but it's exactly what the US needed. The squad only managed to tie the next game against Panama, 1-1 on the road. It seems to me that the US is a completely different team under their new coach Bruce Arena. I think former coach Klinsmann had lost the team because of his abrasive personality. We'll see if they can maintain their momentum for the next World Cup qualifiers in June. They still need to keep on winning to catch Mexico in their group.
