Let the madness begin

March 17, 2017

On Thursday, the NCAA basketball tournament officially began. I picked North Carolina to win the whole thing because they've been the most consistent team I have watched over the season. However, in all of my years of making selections in the tournament, this year is the least confident I have ever been. Defending champion Villanova has a legitimate chance to become the first repeat champion in 10 years, since the University of Florida in 2006-7.

I hope everyone enjoys all the games.

I wish spring training baseball was two weeks shorter because it is boring to watch games this long that don't count for anything. I'm happy to report that the Phillies have had no major injuries so far in camp. Knock on wood! None of the Phillies’ top players decided to play in this year’s World Baseball Classic, where there have been a few significant injuries. One of these being Ian Desmond of the Colorado Rockies, who got hit by a pitch and broke his hand. Somehow he's only out for a month??

The PGA tournament this week is the Arnold Palmer Invitational. To reflect on his passing, they had a cool opening ceremony where every player in the field hit a drive on the driving range at the same time to honor "Arnie." I am disappointed in players like Phil Mickelson and Jordan Spieth for not playing the tournament this year, and if Tiger Woods was not hurt, and he skipped the event, I would be mad at him as well.
