Local author Ed Moran releases new book
Local author Ed Moran announced the release of his new action/adventure comedy, “The Octopus’s Garden,” available at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.
The protagonist, Gilly, is a genetically modified octopus who escapes from North Korea to Hawaii, where she is discovered by a group of people who do everything they can to keep her safe from the military and other nefarious parties. Together, they save the USS Arizona Memorial from attack. The fast-paced comedy with likable characters is suitable for the entire family.
Moran said, “After watching ‘My Octopus Teacher’ on Netflix and National Geographic's ‘The Secrets of the Octopus,’ I thought, ‘How intelligent could an octopus be if it lived for decades versus only three to five years?’ Then I thought, ‘What if it could enhance its ability to communicate and shape-shift? Only through a mutation would this be possible,’ I rationalized. ‘And what if a mutated octopus could shape-shift into a human-like form and modify its gills to breathe air for a short time? That would be totally bonkers.’ Meaning, the story would have to be a comedy. A comedy with a lot of drama and action. Along the way, I decided to pay tribute to comedies of the past.
“I am delighted to have my work in the local authors section of Browseabout Books,” Moran said.
