November 5, 2024

Lois Erdman Beaufait, 90, of Lewes, passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, at Delaware Hospice in Milford. She was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Harrisonburg, Va., daughter of the late Levi Centrel and Ann Eliza (Robinson) Erdman.

Lois received her bachelor’s degree in home economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) in 1956 and her master’s degree from Drexel University in 1961.  After teaching for a short time, she met and married her husband of 60 years, Fred W. Beaufait, Nov. 27, 1964, in Harrisonburg, Va.

She had a passion for the arts, and enjoyed reading and traveling the world over throughout Europe, and Central and South America.

A good piece of fruit, a bowl of ice cream, or enjoying all things green in color throughout nature brought her great enjoyment.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Nicole Beaufait; her son, Paul Beaufait; daughter-in-law, Nicole Waring Beaufait; grandchildren, Steven Gene Beaufait and Emily Marie Beaufait; and her brother, Richard Erdman.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by three siblings, Ann Eliza Erdman, Evlyn Erdman Bassols and George Erdman.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, at Lewes Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Kings Hwy., Lewes, with Rev. Gregory P. Wiest officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the National Institute of Mental Health.
