A look at the upcoming NFL season

August 30, 2024

The Kansas City Chiefs are going to try to win three straight Super Bowls. This will put a lot of pressure on Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce to perform again at a very high level, because they haven’t added any new notable people to the offense to help them out. The Eagles are significant favorites in my opinion to win the NFC East division this year. For some reason, the Cowboys did not do much in free agency this off-season, which is surprising because they supposedly have the most money in football. To make things worse for the Cowboys, their best receiver C.D. Lamb has not practiced in the preseason because he was holding out for a new contract. My guess is that this will affect him for the first two or three games. I think that the New York Giants are going to be better this year because if they aren’t, Daniel Jones, their quarterback and coach Brian Daboll will not be there next year. The Washington Commanders will be slightly better this year with their new rookie quarterback Jaylen Daniels from LSU.

The US Open Tennis has begun. Coco Gauff is going to try to defend her championship from last year. We’ll see how far she can advance. The end of August into early September in New York can be very hot or more mild over the next two weeks so the weather is always a factor. The American men had a successful tournament last year. A lot of them made the quarter finals. I hope they can do it again this year.

I’ve been watching a very good eight part series on ESPN+ about Serena Williams' career in her own words. There are lots of interesting details about life as a tennis icon. This production is very well done a worth watching.

The Phillies are playing the Atlanta Braves this weekend in a big four game series, which will definitely help us determine the eventual winner of the division this year. The Phillies have a five game lead going into the series. If the Phillies can split the series with the Braves, they will definitely be on the path to winning the division. To go further, they need to start playing more consistently to have momentum going into the playoffs in October! They do their best to drive me crazy most games but I'm remaining hopeful.
