Lewes City Councilperson Amy Marasco has been given a top honor by the Delaware Chapter of the American Planning Association.
Marasco was honored with the Distinguished Leadership Award, given to an elected or appointed official, for her work as former chair of the Lewes Planning Commission’s Environmental Subcommittee.
She accepted the award on behalf of the city at an event held Dec. 4 in Newark.
Mayor and city council recognized the award at its Dec. 9 meeting.
“What the Delaware Planning Association said was, it was Lewes’ initiative that is going to help other coastal communities, because we balanced it, we found common ground, based in science,” she said. “This is a major step to make our community more resilient.”
