Medicinal native plants program set Sept. 11

August 28, 2021

The Inland Bays Garden Center will host a program on medicinal native plants from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 11, in person at the center at 38320 Muddy Neck Road, Frankford. Cost is $25 per person.

Herbalist Sue Bara will provide information about native plants that can be used to support respiratory and nervous systems, and the best ways to use them. Attendees will receive a DIY herb kit for making respiratory syrup at home. Native plants to be discussed include goldenrod, elderberry, hawthorn, rose and prickly pear.

Bara is an herbalist, naturalist, and habitat steward with a passion for ethnobotany. She is a 2012 graduate of David Winston’s Center for Botanical Studies, where her training included herbs of Native American, Western, Ayurveda, Unani Tibb and Traditional Chinese systems of medicine. She has taught with Delaware Nature Society and the Mount Cuba Center. She volunteers at free herb clinics on Navajo Nation, and enjoys helping people reconnect with plants and medicine.

Attendees receive 10 percent off any plants purchased Sept. 11.
