Milton Aglow Lighthouse celebrates first year of ministry
Milton Aglow Lighthouse celebrated its first year of ministry in Sussex County when members gathered at Union Street Meeting House in Milton.
Organizers held an information session in August 2023 and received resounding interest from community members. Monthly meetings began last October under the leadership of Sheila Setzer, a Milton resident who recalls attending local Aglow meetings with her grandmother, Althea Dickerson, when she was younger.
The mission statement of the Milton Aglow Lighthouse is “To know God and make him known.”
Over the past year, local ministry leaders have been invited to share how they help the community and how the Milton Aglow Lighthouse can support them. Featured causes and topics have included anti-human trafficking, pregnancy care centers, Delaware’s state constitution, prayer at the state capitol, local homeless and hungry individuals, family policy council and prison ministry.
The group also heard testimonies from a local radio morning show co-host/author, a local worldwide missionary and Milton Aglow Lighthouse members, along with facilitating Aglow’s personal development programs, GameChangers and LifeChangers. A prayer gathering where all are welcome takes place once a month, and intercession takes place for families, communities, state, nation and world.
Recently, several members were able to serve the first nations people, the Nanticoke Indian Tribe, by helping in the welcome center at the 46th annual Nanticoke Powwow. The Nanticoke people are near and dear to the hearts of the Milton Aglow Lighthouse community members.
The Milton Aglow Lighthouse meets at 6:30 p.m., the first Monday of each month at Union Street Meeting House, 415 Union St., Milton. All women ages 16 and over are welcome to attend.
