Never over till it's over

February 9, 2017

Super Bowl 51 will undoubtedly be talked about for many years to come! I know I will never forget it! What an incredibly shocking comeback for the New England Patriots to win that game after being down by 25 points in the third quarter. The Falcons had this win completely in their sights.

I will never understand what the Atlanta Falcons were trying to do when they were up by eight points with less than five minutes to go on the Patriots 22 yard line. All they had to do was waste some more time and kick a field goal to win the game! As everyone knows, the Patriots came back to win in the first ever Super Bowl determined in overtime. Quite a memorable Super Bowl no matter who you were rooting for.

In another unexpected turn of events, Tiger Woods latest attempt at a comeback hit a big roadblock last week. He had to withdraw yet again, from a tournament in Dubai, with back spasms. I continue to hold out hope for one last hurrah for him in the game of golf, but it seems less and less likely as time passes.

Spring training baseball officially starts for most teams next week. Hopefully this will be a signal for warm weather coming to the east coast. Go Phillies!

Another sign of Spring is when college basketball comes down the stretch. This year it's virtually impossible to predict who is going to win March Madness. The tournament will be wide open. As an example, Gonzaga University is now the number one team in the rankings. They used to be classified as a Cinderella team. Not anymore!

For my ‘what the !!!!’ moment of the week, I was very disappointed in the Patriots owner Robert Kraft for hinting about the tough season, knowing he was referring to the "deflate gate" saga. Kind of an unclassy move when his team won the Super Bowl in such a great way. Agree?
