The Philadelphia Eagles finally pulled off a win in their game on Thursday against the New York Giants. For once, the offense actually seemed to play well for the entire game. It's pretty amazing how much one player can help the offense work so much more efficiently. Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson came back from his 10 game suspension for PED's and made a huge difference in the running attack for the Eagles. I hope he keeps his act together and doesn't get suspended again. A third time could mean the end of his career.
The Eagles defense took advantage of a very inconsistent game by the Giants quarterback Eli Manning. Manning threw three interceptions in the game, with one resulting in a touchdown for the Eagles. If the Giants want to go anywhere in the playoffs, Manning can't be forced to throw the ball 63 times in one game!
New Year's Day falls on Sunday this year so there will be no college bowl games on New Year's Day. The bowl games will take place on Monday so that the NFL games stand alone on Sunday. I expect the National Championship game to be Alabama versus Ohio State come next week with Alabama winning. I hope the games are close.
I went to the first two days of the Slam Dunk to the Beach basketball tournament at Cape Henlopen High School this week. I've been very impressed with the crowd support it has received. It's been a very long time since I went to the night games and the crowds have really been into it. The level of play by the out of state teams has been very impressive. You can tell Delaware is a small state so they lack the depth but not the desire. It's been fun to see this level of basketball locally.
Next week will be my bloopers from all my 2016 article drafts. I do this to start the year with a laugh since the first week of the new year really doesn't have that much going on in the sports world.
Happy New Year to all my readers.
