Performing and culinary arts grant applications due March 31

March 4, 2025

Paul Kares is now accepting applications for first-quarter grants, and the deadline for submission is Monday, March 31.

Paul Cullen and Jim Rivette founded Paul Kares to support young people seeking performing and culinary arts careers. Cullen’s experience includes careers as both a musician and a personal chef.

The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization has donated more than $43,500 to help young people prepare for their future. Beneficiaries include individuals, bands and schools. The nonprofit works with grade schools, high schools, and other institutions and groups throughout the Delmarva region to identify qualified candidates. Paul Kares puts an emphasis on children living in low- to moderate-income circumstances.

“With revenues raised through events, fundraisers and donations, we’ve been able to help youth pursue their passion,” Rivette said.

Fran Simeon, director of development, said, “We want kids to be the best version of themselves and have the resources they need to succeed.”

Recipients use the grants to attend educational seminars, workshops and classes in their chosen field and purchase musical instruments or culinary/kitchen tools and equipment.

Paul Kares hosts several annual fundraising events to assist children needing financial support, among them the upcoming Concert for the Kids.

The 4th Annual Concert for the Kids will be held Sunday, April 6, at Lighthouse Cove Event Center in Dewey Beach.
