Philip Anthony Wlodarczyk, veteran, sales professional
Philip Anthony Wlodarczyk, 73, of Lewes, passed away peacefully at home Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, after a courageous battle with throat cancer and heart failure.
Philip was born July 25, 1951, in Baltimore, Md., to Noreen Cavender and Stanley Wlodarczyk. He graduated from Parkville High School in Baltimore in 1969. In 2002, he earned an associate degree in management from Montgomery College in Maryland, where he was a proud member of Phi Theta Kappa. Philip also became a certified hard service and advanced resilient flooring inspector and a certified concrete moisture tester in 2022-23.
Philip proudly served in the 4th Engineer Battalion Marine Corps Reserve in Baltimore, Md., from 1970-76. Throughout his military career, he earned top marks in his specialty class and was meritoriously promoted from E-1 to E-5 sergeant, achieving an honorable discharge.
Philip married Donna Felter Nov. 10, 2006, in Olney, Md., and together they shared a life full of love, family, and adventure.
A highly respected sales professional, Philip spent over 25 years in the wholesale and retail floor covering industry. He worked for Bayard Sales and Featherman Distributors in Baltimore, Md., where he excelled in sales, eventually representing his region on the Sales Council Management team for five consecutive years. Philip was also sales manager at Featherman Distributors, where he earned recognition as the 1986 Salesman of the Year. Later in life, he owned Century Floor Service and, more recently, Veterans Flooring Inspections in Lewes.
Philip was a passionate hobbyist who enjoyed spending time with his family, attending his grandchildren’s sports and social events, and sharing his love of history and science fiction movies. He was always ready with a good story, even if it was one he had told many times before. He also had a talent for installing hardwood, ceramic, and carpet flooring for family and friends. His true love, however, was comfort food—he always knew the best places to eat.
Philip is survived by his loving wife, Donna Felter of Lewes; stepchildren, Michelle and Michael Dmuchowski of Frederick, Md., Tony and Jennifer Chiavelli of Chester Springs, Pa., and Karen and Frank Ryan of Lewes; grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob, and Sam Dmuchowski, Anthony and Nicholas Ryan, Kendall and Mia Chiavelli, and Paxson and Ryan Warnock; siblings, Tom Wlodarczyk (Denise) of Berlin, Md., and Patti Kuisel (Greg) of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was predeceased by his parents, Noreen and Stanley Wlodarczyk; and his siblings, Sandy Ruth, Jimmy Wlodarczyk and Scott Wlodarczyk, all of Baltimore, Md.
A Celebration of Life for Philip will be held at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, April 6, at the Virden Retreat Center, 1155 College Drive, Lewes. Family and friends are invited to attend.
