Project Kudos mural art contest entries due May 30
Delaware is known for many things, including beautiful beaches, historic sites, and its arts and entertainment scene.
Project Kudos, powered by Schell Brothers Foundation, launched its Art For A Cause campaign, a competition for students who are creative and innovative thinkers.
Selected artworks will be part of a Schellville Live With Art Mural Walk, attributed to each artist by their name and hashtag.
Student contestants must be high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors, or enrolled in college classes.
Each applicant must upload a mural concept, two painted pieces and one additional piece of existing work. A minimum of four pieces is required to be considered for a mural selection.
All artwork will be reviewed by Wednesday, May 31, and winners will be notified Thursday, June 1, and receive a $500 scholarship.
Winners and their art will be highlighted on Project Kudos social media, and the artists will paint their murals in Schellville. They will have an 8-foot wood fence to paint on, and the mural can be up to 6 feet tall.
Murals must be completed by Tuesday, June 20, and will be unveiled at Schellville just in time for the Lookout Summer Festival, to be held Friday to Sunday, June 23 to 25.
"Creativity can help with well-being, and improve health and happiness, and this is definitely one of our main focuses here at Schell Brothers. This competition aims to showcase the importance of visual arts in young kids' lives and the importance of the young generation as future producers of culture." said Adelina Riddick, Schell Brothers marketing specialist.
"We are beyond grateful for our collaboration with the paint supplies giant Sherwin Williams, which generously agreed to donate all the paint for the murals' production," said Alyssa Titus, Schell Brothers director of marketing.
