I’m writing this letter today as a proud Beebe supporter and a very grateful Beebe patient.
In early April, I noticed a deterioration in my ability to be active. I couldn’t catch my breath while biking, and I lost energy while working out at the gym. After some bloodwork, my primary care doctor, Uday Jani, MD, sent me to Beebe’s Emergency Department in Lewes. It was determined that my pacemaker battery had come to the end of its useful life and that a 23-year-old stent needed to be bypassed as soon as possible. Maria Pia Del Corral, MD, addressed my pacemaker battery, and cardiothoracic surgeon Steven Marra, MD, with Brian McCarthy, chief cardiac physician’s assistant, handled my stent bypass with incredible talent and professionalism. I am beyond grateful for their skilled, compassionate care.
My surgery was a major one, and I was hospitalized for a total of two weeks. And while I received great care every step of the way at Beebe, I was even more impressed that the great care didn’t end when I left the hospital facility. Home care services began within days of discharge, and everything has been extraordinary. I’m connected by and monitored with Beebe’s telehealth program, which allows my condition and vitals to be monitored and managed remotely. Incredibly efficient, this impressive program has taken the worry out of my recovery time at home. I can literally rest easy with support from home care nurses Ashley Alm, RN; Ashley Decarlo, RN; and Anna Schell, RN. They have been extraordinary, and the in-home occupational therapy already has me moving in a very positive direction. I thank them sincerely.
In fact, everyone involved in my care deserves my thanks! I am grateful for the professional, competent and kind care I received from everyone during my hospital stay and beyond.
I’ve already been contacted by Beebe’s Cardiac Rehabilitation group, and I look forward to starting with them at the end of May. I’m confident I’m on the road back to my active lifestyle thanks to terrific care.
Keep up the good work, Beebe!
