Risky Business

Whether you are for or against the Bradford trade, it's sure going to change up the Eagles’ season. The Bradford trade gets the Eagles the first round draft pick for next year of the Minnesota Vikings.

Bradford was traded to the Vikings to replace the badly injured Teddy Bridgewater (quarterback for Minnesota). Even though I understand the logic of this move, I am not in favor of it. Carson Wentz is so inexperienced that I think this will put way too much pressure on him.

In a weak NFC East division, I thought that Bradford as quarterback actually gave the Eagles a good chance to make the playoffs. Even if the defense performs as well as they did during the preseason games, a rookie quarterback will most likely only give them the opportunity to be 6 and 10 at the end of the season. Trading Bradford so close to the start of the season is a bummer. I look forward to Wentz proving me wrong.

In the US Open tennis tournament, the women are usually the ones to bring great upsets. That has not been the case this year. Novak Djokovic is the only one of the three favorites going into the final rounds of the tournament. Nadal lost in a fifth set tiebreaker to a young French player Lucas Pouille. Andy Murray lost to a former US Open finalist from Japan, Kei Nishikori, in a memorable five set match. We will see who comes out victorious on Sunday.

On the women's side, I think it will be a rematch of the Australian Open and Wimbleton final between Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber. They are clearly the best women player's this year. It would be a fitting climax to the Grand Slam season.

In somewhat surprising golf news, Tiger Woods plans to make his much anticipated comeback attempt. This will take place at the Safeway Open in October at the first PGA tour event for next season. This sounds confusing only if you don't follow golf like me. I thought he was going to wait for his foundation event in the Bahamas in December. This is an exhibition tournament and seemed a better new beginning. I really hope he can come back and stay healthy for years to come.
