Robert J. White, retired banker

Robert J. White, 89, of Millsboro, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025.

He was the son of Harley P. and Ida E. White of Millsboro.

He graduated from Millsboro High School in 1954. He attended University of Richmond and University of Delaware.

He had a long and distinguished banking career, starting in 1958 with Millsboro Trust, then in 1970 with Bank of Delaware, before retiring from PNC in 1992 as assistant vice president.

He was involved early in his career with Kiwanis, Wilmington College Advisory Board, United Way, and Lions Club.

He was on the board of Beebe Medical Center from 1988 until 2015 and a long-standing member of Rehoboth Beach Country Club since 1963.

He enjoyed traveling, dancing, and golf, but most of all, spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his dear parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Lois Hudson White; and grandson, Chase.

He is survived by his daughter, Veronica Lee White. Also, daughter Robin; granddaughter, Ashley; and great-granddaughter, Sophia.

In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the SPCA or Delaware Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 22, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends and family may gather at 10 a.m. Burial will take place following the service at Millsboro Cemetery.
