The Sussex Academy soccer team finished up their preseason scrimmages with an all Georgetown 19947 match up with Sussex Central. When the final horn sounded the Seahawks came away with a 3-1 scoring advantage.

Sussex Academy opens its season at home against Sussex Tech at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 25.
“I feel a there is a little pressure playing with these girls, but I feel there is high expectations,” said SAS eighth grader Patty Lara Nieto. “But these girls and the coaches are so nice that you really get comfortable with it. Just being here with these girls is a wonderful experience and I’ll grow with it.”
“We are looking to doing the same thing we did last year,” said senior Sienna Serpico. “We have a lot of young players stepping up and I honestly think the returning players have learned so much and we are going to start filling in those the roles and we’re going far. We are chasing that title again. We are looking forward to starting next week.”
“We had a lot of seniors graduate last year, but our core group is excited to step up and fill their shoes,” said first year head coach Chase Humphrey. “Sixty eight percent of our goals were scored by seniors last year. So I asked who was going to step up and score. That’s going to be the biggest question mark. It’s a really good group of girls and mentally were prepared. We are still figuring out how we want to play. We are experimenting with players in different positions ad see what is going to work best for us.”
The Seahawks open their regular season Tuesday, March 25 with Sussex Tech while the Golden Knights hosts Indian River.
