Striders wrap up 21st summer series

September 2, 2011

Year No. 21 is in the books with another successful Seashore Striders Championship Series completed with new records set in several categories.

The number of female qualifiers hit a new mark, along with a new overall record number of qualifiers, and finally a new “all 13” record set with female runners not missing a qualifying event.

Seven of the 13 events set or tied participation records, mostly due to the tech T-shirts that were presented in 12 of the 13 events. Awards will follow the Last Blast 5K to the top five finishers in each five-year division, as well as all qualifiers of the series.

To be a series qualifier one must complete five of the 5K events and one of the 5-mile events.

Points are calculated based on age-group place, with the lowest number being the best and six points the lowest possible score that could be achieved.

Special awards will also be presented to the following: Series Most Valuable Runner, Most Consistent Runner, Most Improved Runner, Master Champion, the “All 13” dedicated group, and the Hank Brittingham Volunteer of the Year Award.

These results, calculated by Dr. Lee Masser of Masser Systems Inc., are also available at www.seashorestriders.com.
